This wooden box is a fairly common type, with a pretty mosaic decoration made from small pieces of animal bone, mother of pearl, and some black inlay - either made in North Africa or in India.  What is slightly more unusual and useful is the hinged lid, and that is that it is lined with red fabric so would make either  a jewellery box or a sewing kit box. It is sort of timeless as this kind of work has been done for centuries. Size: 9.5 across, 4.25cm high.
